Turning to God in the uncertainty

I don’t know about you, but life has been super crazy lately. I recently moved to college in a different state and with corona virus I have felt pretty overwhelmed. I wanted to chat about turning to God during times like this. If you aren’t following my blog already make sure to scroll all the way down and enter your email. Enjoy!

For me, it is so hard to give up control. I will be running through life with a perfect schedule thinking that I have it figured out and then of course life will throw me a curveball. Or the entire globe a curveball. It’s during times like this when we truly test our faith and see whether we were “trusting God” or truly trusting God. Going to college has been scary. I didn’t realize how many safety blankets I had in my life until they were gone and Jesus was one of the only things left. Although this time has been difficult, I am glad that it pushed me to rely on Jesus more.

Last night we listened to one of the college pastors speak and it was so good. One thing he talked about was giving up control. He made me realize that we aren’t God (even if we act like it). We honestly don’t have the final say, so why should we panic and try to control all that we do? One of my new friends told me something that really helped me. So, close your fists and grasp onto nothing like we do in our lives. See how much you can hold? Now open your fists, surrendering everything to God. See how now they have no limit to what they can hold? This really helped me understand how when we are holding onto and controlling our lives so tight we are really limiting ourselves and how God can work in our life. So, try to surrender your control a bit more and it will get easier 🙂

Even if you aren’t struggling right now, reflect on what you find security in. It’s fine to find security in things like your parents, a location, whatever, but God should be number one on that list. Honestly, I realized that He wasn’t number one on my list when I moved to college. So, I’ve been trying to work on it. Truthfully, I have experienced a lot of anxiety while moving to college and that has taught me to rely more on Jesus. It’s so true how He is the only stable thing in our lives (Hebrews 13:8). So, when your life is filled with uncertainty or change, cling to Him! Although we may feel unstable and fragile, He is definitely not!

Here are some Bible verses that may be helpful for you to read 🙂

  • Matthew 6:26
  • Philippians 4:6-7
  • Proverbs 3:5-6
  • Proverbs 16:3
  • Philippians 1:6
  • 1 Peter 5:7
  • Psalms 55:22
  • Isaiah 41:10
  • John 14:27
  • Psalm 62:8
  • Hebrews 13:8

Hopefully this post helped some of you. I will be putting out a post soon about handling anxiety especially for Christians, so be on the lookout for that. Also, so sorry for not posting for a while, like I said times are a little crazy right now. If you want to see more stuff from me, be sure to follow me on Instagram. 3. This has helped me a lot. Yes I trusted in Jesus, but I didn’t fully put my trust in him. Now because of your message, I’ll be able to let go and let God take control.
