Hey everyone π For the past while I have been feeling a little down so I decided to do a post where I show you guys the things that help me feel a bit happier. These are all things that work for me but I would love to know what you guys do as well! It would make me extra happy if you subscribed π enjoy
read
Reading is a great way to escape and kind of let your mind focus on something. Sometimes just reading your favorite book is great or other times it is good to read a book about happiness or mental health or whatever. Light a candle and snuggle up with a good book.
music
Music can influence my mood so much, one second I will be listening to an upbeat song and smiling and the next sad song I will be crying lol. Instead of listening to music that makes you sad when you are already down, listen to something fun that makes you happy. Also, try to listen to music whenever you can, while you drive, study, work, cook, clean, etc.
change
Sometimes you just feel stuck in a rut and all you need is change. This can be something really simple like reorganizing your room or changing around your school schedule. You could also completely change something like your hair or your career lol, whatever works for you.
meditate
I don’t do this too often, but I really want to get in the habit of doing this. Clear out all distractions and get comfortable. There are so many ways to meditate but I like to do one where I sit with my eyes shut and think of things that make me happy, like sunshine, my dog, family, etc. You can also use this time to connect spiritually. Quiet time with God is important and we don’t get it enough.
get ready
This is a huge one for me, getting ready. I always feel like a lazy and sad slob when I don’t get ready or wear makeup. I’m not saying you have to wear makeup and get all dolled up, but don’t stay in your pajamas. If you can get out of the house, that is a plus too!
time with God
Spending time with God is super important in your happiness factor. Do a Bible study or read the Bible! Also, prayer is very important in your daily life. You can read my post on how to get closer to God here. Pray to God about your struggles or how you are feeling.
the ~present~
I read something the other day that said if you are depressed you are focusing on the past, if you are anxious you are focusing on the future. The present is where you should be. Try not to think of things that have made you sad in the past and don’t think of things that make you stressed out in the future, focus on the present moment.
nature
I don’t know what it is, but getting out in nature and the sunshine (or rain) can take away some of my stress and put me in a better mood. One of my favorite things to do is go on a walk with my dog. You can also combine this with listening to some happy music, or just take the time to listen to your thoughts.
social media
Even if you don’t find social media harmful to your mental health, taking time away from it will boost your mood. If you are too addicted, like a lot of people, spend some time on Pinterest instead. Set some goals or pin some inspirational quotes on that app instead of scrolling through Instagram.
write
Writing is probably my favorite thing to do in the world. If you are feeling down, try doing some creative writing. If you aren’t into that type of thing just try doing a journal entry. Write down some of your feelings and I swear this helps! Also, try writing down the things you are thankful for.
clean
Cleaning up always makes me happier in the end. It always feels great to have a nice clean room and house. Also, enjoy the time while you clean. You can watch your favorite TV show while you tidy up. Once your room or your house is nice and tidy your life will feel a bit tidier too.
small things
Identify the small things that boost your mood. For me it’s things like candles, having clean hair, plants, planning things out. Take some time (maybe while you are meditating) to think of the things that make you happy. Also, try to include these in your daily routines.
smile
I know that this might sound stupid but smiling at yourself or just trying to smile more in general can boost your mood. While you are doing your makeup, smile. If you walk past someone in the hallway, smile at them.
food
What you put in your body really affects your mood. Something I notice is that whenever I eat sugar I just feel bad. I am moody, tired and it gives me acne. Take note of what foods make you feel good and stick with that. Also, getting your allergies checked may help you feel a ton better like me!
something new
As I mentioned above, we all need a little bit of change in our life. Trying something new can introduce us to that change. I am actually jumping back into dance, it’s not exactly something new but I haven’t done it in a while. Maybe try working out or switch gyms, try out some art, write some new posts, listen to new music. It doesn’t have to be crazy, just a change.
friends
I know you have heard it before, but surround yourself with good people. Don’t hang out with a bunch of people that constantly complain about their life. Spend time with people who are positive and happy π
rewards
Giving yourself some rewards or something to look forward to helps me so much. This can be a day where you do something fun or just getting yourself a coffee. Try to incorporate small rewards into your routine to help you get through the week.
Those are some things that actually help me feel happier. These all work great for me, so I encourage you all to try them as well. As always, thank you for reading and it would mean the world to me if you could subscribe and leave me a comment down below!

This is a great post! It’s amazing how a lot of relatively small things can really boost moods.
Personally, I’ve been doing a lot of reading, writing, and meditating to keep me happier.
I’ve also started to try and get ready in the morning. I stay at home with my daughter and staying in PJs all day really did start to make me feel down.

Such a great collection of ideas but my favorite is music. Whenever I want to chill or get an energetic pick-me-up, I turn on some of my favorite tunes and mood is instantly liftedβ₯οΈ
